Teaching.

With two degrees in violin performance and over fifteen years of experience as a private violin instructor, I currently teach students ranging in age from 6 to adult, whose skill levels range from beginning to advanced. My hope in teaching is to foster a love in each student - not simply of music, but of learning in general.

My teaching style and philosophy could be described as investigative: I ask lots of questions of my students, and encourage them to ask many as well - of me, of the music, and of themselves. I believe that questions lead to discovery, which in turn leads to a deeper interest in and love of music.

I do not subscribe to one specific method of teaching or set of materials. While I do often use music and materials found in the Suzuki Method books, particularly with beginning and intermediate students, and though I was myself a student of the Suzuki Method for the first several and formative years of my musical education, I am not a Suzuki teacher. I also use many other books and materials, based on the needs of each student.
